Electives

Overview
Middle school is an important time for students to discover what excites them. Laurel Hall’s robust elective program gives students the opportunity to explore a wide range of interests—from the arts and technology to leadership, communication, music, and more—before entering high school. With the freedom to try something new, build confidence, and develop skills beyond the core curriculum, students enter high school with a stronger sense of their interests, talents, and the areas they may want to pursue further.
Explore. Discover. Grow.
Laurel Hall’s middle school students choose two year-long electives, giving them dedicated time to explore their interests, discover new strengths, and develop skills beyond the core curriculum. With opportunities spanning the arts, technology, music, communication, leadership, and more, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and try something new.
Our elective program gives students the time and space to develop an interest more deeply over the course of the year—whether they are designing, performing, creating, coding, debating, writing, or making music. Along the way, they build confidence, creativity, collaboration, and independence.
By giving students access to a broad range of experiences before high school, Laurel Hall helps them better understand what excites them and where their strengths lie, preparing them to make more confident choices about the opportunities they pursue in high school and beyond.

Two Electives. A Year to Explore.
Middle school students select their elective preferences and are placed in two year-long electives, providing opportunities to explore their interests, build new skills, and dive deeper into subjects that excite them.
