Spanish
¡Hola!
Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade enjoy a fun and engaging introduction to Spanish through weekly exposure classes. These sessions focus on building comfort and excitement with the language. Students will explore Spanish through stories, songs, and vocabulary-building activities. Each class is designed to spark curiosity, strengthen listening and speaking skills, and build a foundation for continued language learning in later grades.
The grades 4-8 Spanish curriculum is a core subject designed to expose learners to the language at a beginner to intermediate level. As part of our middle school Spanish curriculum, students are introduced to the foundational aspects of the Spanish language and corresponding Hispanic/Latin American cultures. The course is designed for non-native beginner students, and they practice all language modalities (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
Students in grades 4–8 will study topics drawn from the ¡Qué Chévere! textbook curriculum.
- Greetings & goodbyes: How to have introductory conversations in Spanish.
- Spanish-speaking countries: Distinguishing between the varying cultures, accents and customs of the Spanish-speaking world.
- School Experience: Telling time, class schedule, classroom items, uniforms and high school/university experiences abroad.
- Travel: Navigating city life, transportation, city landmarks, art and customs.
