Spanish

¡Hola! The Spanish curriculum is a core subject designed to expose learners in grades 4-8 to the language at a beginner to intermediate level. As part of our middle school Spanish curriculum, students are introduced to the foundational aspects of the Spanish language and corresponding Hispanic/Latin American cultures. The course is designed for non-native beginner students, and they practice all language modalities (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

The topics explored are from the textbook curriculum ¡Qué Chévere!:

  • Greetings & goodbyes: How to have introductory conversations in Spanish.
  • Spanish-speaking countries: Distinguishing between the varying cultures, accents and customs of the Spanish-speaking world.
  • School Experience: Telling time, class schedule, classroom items, uniforms and high school/university experiences abroad.
  • Travel: Navigating city life, transportation, city landmarks, art and customs.
