Student School Visits/Assessments and Student and Parent Interviews
Kindergarten applicant families are warmly invited to join us for a special playdate on the Laurel Hall campus! Once your application is submitted, you’ll be able to register for the playdate with our admissions office. This relaxed, fun event gives incoming Kindergarten students a chance to visit Laurel Hall, meet new friends, and take part in activities like circle time. Meanwhile, parents can connect with each other and get a feel for our campus community.
The next step in the process is to schedule a parent interview with our Principal and school administration. These meetings will be held in person. This conversation allows us to get to know your family better, explore how Laurel Hall fosters a strong community and a dynamic learning environment, and address any questions you may have. Interviews will take place from October and will be scheduled directly through the Admissions Office.
The final step in the admissions process is a 30-minute Gesell developmental readiness assessment. Developed by Yale, this interactive assessment is designed to observe your child’s natural behaviors and skills in a relaxed setting—there are no right or wrong answers. It helps us understand how your child learns and grows as they prepare for school. The assessment will take place in February, and the Admissions Office will contact you to arrange a convenient date and time.
Our goal is to make the application process as smooth and approachable as possible. Throughout the year, we offer several opportunities for you to get to know Laurel Hall, so you can feel confident and well-informed when it’s time to make your decision in March.
