  • Understanding Financial Aid (FA)

At Laurel Hall School, our financial aid budget is determined annually by the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Finance Committee. Providing a Laurel Hall education to a diverse community of students is central to our mission, enriching the learning experience for all. Many of our families work full-time and carefully plan their budgets to make a Laurel Hall education possible.

Every family’s situation is unique. Some children have a single parent, others have multiple caregivers. Some families have one child, others have several. Some households support extended family members or children with special needs. The Laurel Hall Financial Aid Committee considers all of these factors when reviewing requests for tuition assistance.

The Committee also takes into account typical living expenses. For example, we recognize that living costs vary by region. Families requesting financial aid are expected to manage their expenses responsibly and contribute as much as they can toward tuition before seeking assistance from the school. The Committee evaluates factors such as housing (mortgage or rent), transportation, savings and charitable contributions, food, entertainment, and other household expenses. While the school does not dictate how families spend their money, these factors are considered when determining financial aid awards.

Applying for financial aid requires families to provide detailed financial information so that the Financial Aid Committee can make an informed decision regarding tuition assistance. The application process follows firm deadlines to allow the Committee sufficient time to review all requests. The Committee strives to meet as many families’ needs as possible within the budget set by the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Finance Committee for that year. During the review process, families may be asked to clarify information or provide additional details as needed.

For families applying to Laurel Hall School who have also requested financial aid, award information will be shared only if an offer of admission is extended.

  • Financial Aid (FA) Guidelines

It is essential that families pursuing financial aid applications adhere to all deadlines and requirements. Please refer to our Dates and Timelines section below to ensure your application is complete. The Financial Aid Committee works within a set budget of funds, and families should not assume that awards will be available for late applicants after grant decisions have been made.

All information submitted is kept strictly confidential. Tuition accounts for currently enrolled students must be in good standing with the Business Office to receive a financial aid award. Families are required to meet the payment schedules outlined in their enrollment agreements.

Families must reapply for financial aid each year. Receiving an award in one year does not guarantee future awards.
