Dear Laurel Hall Families,
I cannot believe the first week of the 2017-2018 school year has come and gone. In my thirty-two years of service, these past two days have been the best, by far!
First, let me say that your children are AMAZING! I met with all 6th 7th and 8th graders on Wednesday during our “student success assemblies.” Next, I visited all TK-5th grade classes today!
Among my many pleasurable interactions, my favorite dialogue took place with one of the youngest of all. During my trip to the Kinder Village, I found a particular class to be so much fun that I requested to stay all day.
“May I stay in this class all day?” I anxiously asked the kids.
“NO,” shouted the loudest voice from the tiniest body!
“Why not?” I sadly asked.
“Because you’re not five!” Came the obvious answer.
Welcome to Laurel Hall!
Thank you for helping to make this a smooth opening. There were a few bumps along the way, but we will iron them out. Remember – it is the focus on the process that leads us to our destination.
In closing, I sent this email to the staff a short while ago. I will share it with you:
As I reflect on my being witnessed to your interactions with kids, parents and each other, during this first official week of the 2017-2018 school year, the word that comes to mind for me is, majestic, as well as the words to describe majestic - stately, dignified, distinguished, solemn, magnificent, grand, splendid, resplendent, glorious, sumptuous, impressive, august, palatial, monumental, noble, awe-inspiring.
Need I say more?
Have a great year!
